Background
The Web Care Campaign,
initiated by iProA and supported by some 50 organizations, aims to promote
a barrier free Internet environment and provide the needy communities
with equal opportunities in sharing the benefits brought about by the
development of Internet in Hong Kong. Web Care Award is a signature event
of the Campaign which awards companies and organizations in recognition
of their efforts in providing barrier-free Internet services.

web sites in accordance with guidelines as stipulated in the "Easy
Guide to Building No Barrier Web Sites".
- To educate corporations,
organisations and the public in the primary elements of an accessible
web site.
- To encourage the
public as well as private sectors in Hong Kong in provision of barrier-free
Internet services

organisations in Hong Kong registered for the Award are eligible.

Award
Criteria
Criteria for award
are based on guidelines as stipulated in the "Easy Guide to Building
No Barrier Web Sites". All registered web sites that have achieved
the Primary Level of web accessibility as stipulated in the Guide will
be awarded. Judgment will be based on demonstration in the three attributes
listed below. Web sites will be awarded only if they have fulfilled or
achieved all three attributes.

Process
- Briefing Seminars
Briefing seminars will be organised to explain details of the Web Care
Award, such as its objective, judgment standard, technical consultancy
service and registration procedure, etc. A booklet entitled "Easy
Guide to Building No Barrier Web Sites" and Registration Form will
be distributed to attendees. All interested parties are welcome.
- Entry Submission
Participants should complete the Registration Form, and return it together
with a copy of the first page of the registered website to the "Internet
Professionals Association Web Care Award Committee" at iBay, Level 10, Cyperport 2,
100 Cyberport Road, Hong Kong or fax to (852) 2778 0032 , 3157 1320
- Web Accessibility
Consultancy Service
A technical consultancy team, comprising of a group of IT volunteer
consultants, stands ready to provide guidance to all registered companies
or organisations on how to build no barrier web sites. The consultancy
service is Free of Charge. Participants are encouraged to use this service
when needed and can arrange for an appointment with the consultants
individually.
- Assessment Enrollment
Participating organisations can enroll for panel adjudication any time
after submission of Registration Form. Enrollment should reach the Organiser
no later than 29 August 2005 if participant wishes to be awarded in the
Award Presentation of the same year. Enrollment Form will be provided
by the Organizer upon admission of registration. Participants will be
notified of results within 1 months after their enrollment. Successful
web sites will receive a plaque of Web Care Award while formal award
presentation is scheduled to be held in 29 October
2005.
- Follow-up Assessment
Unsuccessful web site will be informed of the reasons for their failure
to achieve the Award. They can apply for follow-up assessment any time
afterwards. To be awarded in the Award Presentation in 2005, application
for follow-up assessment should reach the Organiser no later than 29 August 2005.

Award Process

Submission Deadline
All interested companies and organizations should register on or before
29 August 2005 (Monday). Late registration will only be entertained with
Web Care Award Committee's approval.
Others
- Each application
may be registered for one category only.
- The Organiser reserves
the right to amend any assessment criteria as it deems appropriate.
