Dear iProA Members and Friends,
I hope you have a nice holiday break over the Chinese New Year!
At the start of the New Year, I like I give you a brief account on the key events held last year just to recap. The HKICT Awards 2007: Best Innovation and Research Award Exposition (http://www.iraward.hk) was successfully held on 28 October last year at Cyberport with more than 50 high-quality competing projects from public, tertiary education and secondary schools. As the project director representing iProA to have co-organized the award, I am delighted that this Award has provided a good platform for people in ICT industry from both academic and professional sector to share innovative ideas and research outcomes.
Last June iProA led the Hong Kong region to participate in the Amway Pan-Pearl River Delta Region Universities IT Project Competition for the third year. Leading the HK team and acted as judge with Rose Chu, I went to Guizhou and spent 2 days on intensive judging with entries from 10 provinces/districts, including Macau SAR, Guangdong province, and Jiangxi province. The Hong Kong Team fetched 3 of the 4 Grand Awards with their superior quality. A press conference was held in Hong Kong afterwards with wide coverage in major newspapers. In 2008, this competition will be held in Jiangxi province and your continuous support would be vital. This competition is now widely known in Pan-PRD region and we anticipate participation from more than 100 universities and tertiary institutions this year.
As the advisor of the junior committee for 3 consecutive years, I am happy to see the growth and development of the new generation and it has been great working with them and share ICT experiences. With the effort of other advisors, we helped young people to understand more about the business world. The junior committee held the mentorship program in last May to include forum with Richard Li, life-experience sharing dinner and entrepreneurship seminar.
Thanks to the active participation and unfailing support from iProA members and work groups, the events and activities held last year have been very successful. To them, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and I look forward to your continuous support in 2008.
Best regards,
Alex Hung Man Ching Council Member Chairman of Event Committee Advisor of Junior Committee Internet Professional Association |
