Public Forum on Privacy, Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data

The Public Forum on Privacy was held on 27 February 2008 at 1/F., Auditorium, Duke of Windsor Social Service Building, 15 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong.

The focus of this Forum is to share information about advancements and experiences in data protection from a regulatory perspective with two overseas experts, Mr. Richard Thomas, the Information Commissioner of the UK and Mr. David Loukidelis, the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia of Canada.

As personal data privacy has become an important social issue that impacts on our daily life, organizations are urged to embrace privacy as a competitive advantage and a business imperative. This was an invaluable opportunity to learn directly from the two commissioners in charge of information and privacy rights in the UK and British Columbia of Canada about effective data protection and prevention of data leakage.
