Digital Lifestyle Show - Enjoying our Lives with Technology

Themed "Enjoying our Lives with Technology", the Digital Lifestyle Show, the 4th event under the Digital Lifestyle Initiative jointly organized by Internet Professional Association (iProA), School of Design of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU), and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers-IT division, was held on 22 – 23 November 2007.  This time, the event was jointly organized by the Internet Society of China and 26 supporting organizations.

 

Dr. Winnie Tang officiated at the Opening Ceremony in the capacity of President of iProA.  In her Welcome Remarks, Dr. Tang said that Hong Kong was perfectly suited to become the Asian center for digital lifestyle due to its international status, digital infrastructure, economic and legal services leadership, and design excellence. "Hong Kong’s international fame as a global financial centre makes us the icon of the global brand-names’ strategic development. Our leading role in entertainment and creative industries ensures the abundant supply of creative talents, and our metropolitan city lifestyle is keeping to the pulse of the worldwide economy. Leveraging on mainland China’s sizable market, Hong Kong is endowed with enviable resources to develop highly competitive and cutting edge lifestyle products", explained Dr. Tang.

 

The Ceremony was officiated by Mrs. Rita Lau Ng Wai-lan, JP, Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications & Technology), Commerce & Economic Development Bureau of The Government of the Hong Kong SAR; Mr. Li Gang, Deputy Director, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR; and Prof. Gao Xin Min, Administrative Vice Director-general of Internet Society of China, Commissioner of National Information Expert, P.R.C. Over 200 guests from government, ICT-related business, creative design, professional and industry associations participated in the event.

 

More than 20 award-winning and state-of-the-art projects from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University and leading companies in Digital Lifestyle development were showcased at the Digital Lifestyle Show.  By brining futuristic digital lifestyle experience to the visitors, the Show had proven to be an inspiration for innovative concepts blending the best of technology with the best of life.

Roundtable on Modern Services Industry (現代服務業圓桌會議)

Organized by Internet Society of China and iProA, the roundtable on Modern Services Industry (現代服務業圓桌會議) was held on 22 November 2007 at Function Room 3, Cyberport. 14 mainland Chinese professionals and 22 Hong Kong professionals were present to share their views and exchange at the roundtable.
