China Internet Conference

The China Internet Conference, an annual event organized by the Internet Society of China (ISC), was held on the 24th to 26th of September, 2007. As the Special Co-organizer of the event, iProA had a delegation of 22 members, led by the President Dr. Winnie Tang, to join the event.

Deputy Minster of Information Industry Xi Guohua addressed the opening ceremony, urging information technology enterprises to embrace innovative business models and technologies so as to improve the quality of services.

Dr. Elizabeth Quat, Co-Founder and Immediate Past President of iProA; Mr. Ringo Lam, Founding President of iProA; and Mr. Cheung Wai-lun, Chairman of SIG in Digital Content and New Media, iProA; were invited as the speakers for the panel discussion on Beijing-Hong Kong-Taipei Digital Content Forum and shared their insights on Digital Content development in the region.

Dr. Quat also spoke on a session on the World Summit Award, an Award joined by 163 countries all over the world and she was the national expert representing China. Together with Mr. Gao Xinmin, Executive Vice President of Internet Society of China, she also presented the souvenirs to 8 China nominees of the Award.

China e-Commerce Summit, China Internet Conference 2007

iProA and the Internet Society of China jointly organized the China e-Commerce Summit, one of the featured events of the China Internet Conference, on the 26th September, 2007. The event was co-organized with the Hong Kong Association of China Business. With enterprise leaders from leading e-Commerce players, including HC 360, Capitalonline, TOM, were invited to share their visions on the surging e-Commerce market in China. Mr. Witman Hung, Vice President of iProA, officiated the opening of the Summit on behalf of the Association and was invited to speak at a panel, sharing his view on Hong Kong’s role in developing the e-Commerce market in China.

Senior Level Cocktail Reception, China Internet Conference 2007

iProA successfully organized a senior level cocktail reception under the China Internet Conference 2007 held on 26th September, 2007 in Beijing, together with the Internet Society of China, with the Hong Kong Association of China Business as co-organizer. Mr. Ping Wong and Mr. Kenny Chien, Vice-Chairmen of our China Committee had successfully obtained sole sponsorship from Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for this Cocktail event. The Director of the HKSAR Government Office in Beijing and a senior representative from the Education, Science and Technology Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR were invited and also attended the event. There were more than 100 senior executives, mostly from IT and internet communities of Mainland China, Hong Kong and foreign countries, gathered together in this unique networking event
