Events ¡@ The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007: Best Innovation and Research Award Launching Ceremony To recognize the achievements of the most innovative and quality research in the ICT areas, the Best Innovation and Research Award is established in 2007 as an extension of the eYouth Category of the Hong Kong ICT Awards held last year. Building on the success of the eYouth Award of HKICT Awards 2006, iProA has been awarded as the leading organizer of the ¡§Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007: Best Innovation and Research Award¡¨. The Launching Ceremony of the award was held on 22 June 2007. It was inaugurated by our President Dr. Winnie Tang who delivered a welcome speech to the audience. Professor Albert Yu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong DNA Chips, had accepted our invitation to be the Chief Judge of the Judging Panel and graced the occasion with his speech on his expectation of the award and his view about the importance of innovation and research to the society. This year, the award has expanded the scope of the award streams, namely Secondary School Stream, University Stream, and Open Stream, so as to enhance the awareness of the importance of innovation and research at all levels in the community. The three award streams were respectively introduced by The Advisory Board member Professor Wong Kam-fai, President of Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council; Chairlady of our Junior Committee Miss Lily Cheng, and Ir Dr. Aaron Tong, President of The Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science & Technology. The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2007: Best Innovation and Research Award is organized by iProA and fully supported by Office of the Government Chief Information Officer (OGCIO). Thanks to the participation of Hong Kong Association for the Advancement of Science & Technology (HKAAST), the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education (HKACE), the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council (HKITJC) as the co organizers and seventeen supporting organizations to make it a success. The award is now open for entries until 23 August 2007. It welcomes participation from diverse communities including the academia, ICT professionals and the business sector.
