eHealth Consortium Newsletter Vol.1 May 2007

Dear Members and Friends,

I am delighted to present the first issue of eHealth Newsletter. The Newsletter was compiled by the eHealth Secretariat under the guidance of Dr. Wong Chun-por, Co-Chairman of eHealth Exco committee, Dr. Heston Kwong, Convenor of Education & Capacity Building Subcommittee and Mrs. Patricia Lau, Convenor of Incubation & Value Creation Subcommittee for their contributions to our newsletter. We hope the eHealth newsletter would deliver the latest news about ehealth developments in Hong Kong and other parts of the world and share the developments of the eHealth Consortium in promoting public-private partnership to enhance health care quality through technology.

In the speech delivered by Dr. York Chow at the Opening Ceremony of the recent HA Convention held on 7th May, 2007, he mentioned that Hong Kong shall “develop a territory-wide electronic healthcare record system”. The same idea has been elaborated by Mr. Shane Solomon in his speech at the same occasion that “Hong Kong has a unique opportunity to be the first in the world to offer its whole population access to their own eHR” and HA should “create the informed patient through the eHR.” These ideas coincide with our aspiration in the eHealth Consortium. To better work towards the goal, it would be our intention to maintain close and regular dialogue with experts like you. Hence, we would like to make use this newsletter as a platform to share the professional knowledge of eHealth and keep your posted of our works. In this issue, you will find coverage on:
