Hong Kong Qualifications Framework: Specification of Competency Standards

Dr. Winnie Tang, President of iProA, as well as a Member of Information and Communications Technology Industry Training Advisory Committee (ICT ITAC) of Education and Manpower Bureau, spoke as a Convenor at a Briefing Session for Industry Consultation held on March 16, 2007. The briefing session introduces and reports on draft of the Specification of Competency Standards (SCS) compiled by the Design, Development and Maintenance work group, one of the eight ICT functional areas.  ICT ITAC was established under the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) in July 2005.

SCS is related to Software Products and Software Services and it is aimed to serve as a benchmark for good practices in industry to guide occupational and professional education and training, competency recognition and/or human resource planning and development. ICT ITAC has launched an industry-wide consultation during 15 February to 31 March 2007 to seek views from relevant trade associations, staff unions, learned societies, professional bodies and related organizations in the industry.  The draft SCS has been uploaded to HKQF website .

iProA strongly encourages our members to review the draft SCS and give their valuable opinions and feedback.
