iProA, as one of the seven founding organizations of Green ICT Consortium*, has been granted a support from the Environment and Conservation Fund (ECF) in 2010 to undertake the project “Towards Low Carbon ICT – A Programme to Reduce the Carbon Footprint of ICT Operation and Usage”.

This ECF funded project is started from July 2010 and will last for 18 months.

The programme plans to achieve the following objectives:

• Identify potential areas of  ICT operation that can reduce local business power consumption and carbon emission;
• Introduce state-of-the-art innovative low carbon ICT technologies and practices;
• Help Hong Kong business, especially small and medium size enterprises (SMEs), to develop plans to reduce their carbon emission and improve operational efficiency;
• Encourage SMEs’ contribution to lessen environmental problems;
• Make the Hong Kong economy gain competitiveness through adopting Green ICT technologies and enhance its image of sustainable development
